Human trafficking strips away a person’s freedom, forcing them into labor or commercial sex against their will. When a child is exploited for commercial sex, it is always human trafficking, no matter the circumstances. The wounds left behind—both seen and unseen—can haunt survivors for a lifetime, stealing their innocence, their dreams, and their basic human rights.

The United Nations’ International Labor Organization estimates that traffickers prey on 27.6 million people around the globe each year. This staggering number calls for bold, united action to shield vulnerable communities and support children who have suffered. Only by working together across borders and within our own nations can we hope to turn the tide.
